The Hyundai Elantra facelift was launched with a petrol engine only

Hyundai launched the Elantra facelift back in October 2019. It came with a single petrol engine option only as the 1.6-litre diesel engine of the pre-facelift model got discontinued.

Hyundai has now officially revealed the specs of the diesel engine in their brochure. The 1.6-litre oil burner has been replaced with a new 1.5-litre BS6 compliant diesel that is being shared with the new Hyundai Creta and Verna.

The 1.5-litre U2 CRDi BS6 diesel engine is being offered in the same tune. It produces 115 PS at 4000 RPM and 250 Nm at 1500-2750 RPM. This engine is available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options.

In comparison, the discontinued 1.6-litre BS4 diesel engine produced more power and torque at 128 HP and 260 Nm respectively.

The 2.0-litre petrol engine has been updated with BS6 that produces the same 152 HP and 192 Nm mated to both 6-speed MT and AT options.

The diesel engine was expected to be launched in April but due to the lockdown, the pricing will be announced soon after the lockdown is over. It is expected to be priced from Rs. 19.50 lakhs (ex-showroom). Will be available in SX and SX(O) trims.
