Xiaomi YU7 Launched In China, Priced At RMB 253,000 Or Rs. 30.26 Lakh

Xiaomi has launched the YU7 electric SUV in China. The brand’s desire to dominate the automotive market continues with the latest SUV, marking a new era of technological innovation. Xiaomi prices the YU7 at RMB 253,000 or Rs. 30.26 Lakh.

Xiaomi offers the YU7 in three variants: Standard (RWD), Pro and Max (AWD). The brand powers the YU7 Max with its HyperEngine V6s Plus, which features a silicon carbide-based powertrain.

Styling

The Xiaomi YU7 sports a low-slung appearance typical of a performance SUV. There is a widebody aesthetic and a muscular rear profile. The brand offers the electric SUV in 9 colour options, i.e. Basalt Grey, Lava Orange, Titanium Silver, Emerald Green, Pearl White, Ocean Blue, Dusk Purple, Shadow Teal, and Dawn Pink.

Additionally, there is an expansive wheel size and design options as well. There are standard 19-inch alloy rims with Long Range tyres, ideal for covering huge distances and gives the YU7 Max a range of 760 Km (CLTC). The 20-inch wheels are for customer who prefer quieter rides, available in two versions i.e. Halo wheels which offer body colour paint and deliver a 760 Km range (CLTC) as well as Vortex wheels, giving a range of 750 Km (CLTC).

The 21-inch wheels are the best when it comes to improved handling and feature narrower tyres, available in three designs. The Phantom wheels are paired with Michelin Primacy 5 Energy tyres, delivering a range of 750 Km (CLTC). A sporty and enthusiastic experience is delivered with the Floral forged or Petal forged option paired with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.

These options help to deliver 670 Km range (CLTC). These two-wheel options also feature floating centre caps for the Xiaomi logo. The four piston Brembo callipers can be finished in two options, i.e. Red and Yellow.

Interior

The interior is also customisable in the following themes, i.e. Pine Grey (Dual-Tone), Coral Orange, Twilight Blue, Ash Grey & Iris Purple (Dual-Tone). There are zero-gravity front seats, offering a 10-point massage for the driver. The rear seats recline up to 135 degrees.

Features

In terms of features, the Xiaomi YU7 is equipped with a 16.1-inch centre touchscreen, smart dimming panoramic sunroof, a HyperVision Mini LED panoramic display, mic-free karaoke, and XiaoAI voice assistant. The interesting thing about the YU7 is that it offers an integrated experience with the use of a 27W power supply for electronic accessories.

The IRVM features a 4K gimbal camera and an AI spatial sensor. There are also rear mounts which can accommodate a Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro. The roof rails feature 100W power output, dual USB type C ports, sliding lights, and connection to an external projector. There is also a 25-speaker sound system, 4.6 litre onboard fridge.

Apple iPhone users also enjoy connected car features as the action button can be programmed as a lock/unlock button. Shortcuts can be assigned via the control centre. Additionally, real-time updates can be given via the Xiaomi EV App’s Alive Status.

Battery Performance & Range

The Xiaomi YU7 is powered by the HyperEngine V6s Plus. The standard variant produces 315 HP. The YU7 Pro produces 489 HP with the help of a dual motor setup. The top-spec YU7 Max produces 690 HP and a top speed of 253 Km/hr.

The 0-100 Km/hr acceleration happens in just 3.23 seconds or 2.98 seconds, excluding one foot rollout. The Standard variant provides a CLTC range of 835 Km. The AWD variants provide a CLTC range of up to 770 Km. The batteries support fast charging, allowing to charge from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes and up to 620 Km in just 15 minutes.

Suspension

The Xiaomi YU7 offers comfort with the help of the Xiaomi Smart Chassis management system. In terms of the setup, it is a double wishbone setup in the front and a five-link independent setup in the rear. Additionally, it features dual-chamber closed air springs, Brembo brakes, and continuously adjusting dampers.

A notable highlight is that Xiaomi has collaborated with Huashan Hospital and Beijing Tongren Hospital to develop a Motion Sickness Relief Mode. The chassis closely monitors the conditions and smoothens pitch, roll, and bumps. The conducted tests indicate a 51% decrease in the incidence of motion sickness and delay onset by 16%.

Outlook

The Xiaomi YU7 demonstrates competence as a high-performance EV. The Chinese brand, known for manufacturing electronic devices, proves its technological prowess by expanding into the automotive market. However, the YU7 is only available for sale in China for the moment.
