Yamaha has officially entered India’s electric scooter space with the launch of the EC-06, priced at ₹1.67 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will be sold in select cities through Yamaha’s premium Blue Square showrooms, marking the brand’s first serious step into electric mobility.
The EC-06 is built for everyday urban use. It offers a 169 km certified range, making it suitable for daily commuting without constant range anxiety. Power comes from an IPMSM motor with a 4 kWh fixed battery, delivering a top speed of 79 km/hr. Charging is simple via a regular home socket and takes around 8 hours, while the battery is backed by a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty.
Design-wise, the scooter stays true to Yamaha’s clean and sporty DNA. It looks modern without being overstyled, with a stable stance and proportions that should feel easy to handle in traffic. Features like three riding modes (Eco, Standard, Power), reverse mode, disc brakes with CBS, LED lighting, and a colour LCD display cover all the essentials.
The EC-06 also focuses on practicality. It gets 24.5 litres of under-seat storage, app-based connectivity via Yamaha Motor Connect R, and high water and dust protection ratings, making it well-suited for Indian conditions.
Rather than chasing extreme performance or aggressive pricing, Yamaha has played it safe with a balanced, premium electric scooter that focuses on reliability, usability, and brand trust. The EC-06 may not be flashy, but it feels like a solid and sensible beginning to Yamaha’s EV journey in India.
