Volkswagen Tayron Teaser

Volkswagen has released a teaser of a new, lower-spec version of the Tayron SUV ahead of its scheduled India launch on July 10. The upcoming variant is expected to broaden the Tayron lineup, which is currently available only in the fully loaded R-Line trim priced at Rs. 46.99 lakhs (ex-showroom).

The teaser provides an early look at the SUV’s design and cabin, indicating that while the overall styling remains familiar, the new variant will feature a few visual changes aimed at distinguishing it from the R-Line model.

At the front, the SUV retains the signature LED headlamps connected by a light bar, along with an illuminated Volkswagen logo. However, the bumper and grille design are expected to be more understated than those on the R-Line, although Volkswagen has not revealed these details in full.

From the side, the teaser showcases a different alloy wheel design, replacing the R-Line’s 19-inch wheels. Gloss-black wheel arch cladding and roof rails continue to be part of the package, while the rear receives connected LED tail-lamps and an illuminated Volkswagen badge. The rear bumper is also expected to feature a revised design.

Inside, the cabin adopts a dual-tone upholstery theme instead of the all-black interior found in the R-Line. The teaser also confirms the presence of a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. Other visible features include ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof and metal-finished pedals. Volkswagen is yet to disclose the complete equipment list, but the lower-spec variant is likely to omit some premium features available on the flagship trim.

Mechanically, the SUV is expected to remain unchanged. It is likely to continue with the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 204 HP and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive system is also expected to be retained.

With fewer features than the R-Line, the upcoming Tayron variant is expected to be positioned at a lower price point, making the SUV more accessible to buyers in the premium three-row SUV segment. Once launched, it will continue to rival models such as the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.
