Aprilia SR 175 reaches dealerships with bigger engine, TFT display, July launch
Aprilia India is gearing up to expand its scooter portfolio with the upcoming launch of the SR 175, which has now started arriving at select dealerships across the country. The new model is set to replace the SR 160 and comes with notable updates, including a larger engine and modern features, aiming to offer an enhanced riding experience.
The SR 175 is powered by an upgraded 174.7cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, 3-valve engine, derived from the SR 160’s motor but tuned for more performance. The new engine delivers 12.92 HP at 7200 RPM and 14.14 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM, marking a noticeable increase from the SR 160’s output of 11.27 HP and 13.44 Nm, respectively. The engine’s higher capacity has reportedly been achieved through an increased bore.
While the fundamental chassis setup appears to remain similar to its predecessor, including 14-inch alloy wheels wrapped in wide 120-section tyres and a front disc brake with single-channel ABS, the SR 175 introduces key feature upgrades. One of the most significant additions is the new colour TFT display, reportedly adapted from Aprilia’s RS 457 and Tuono 457 motorcycles. The digital instrument cluster supports Bluetooth connectivity through the Aprilia app, allowing functions such as smartphone pairing, call notifications and music controls. This represents a substantial improvement over the LCD screens found on current SR and SXR models.
In terms of styling, the SR 175 maintains the familiar sporty design of the SR 160, known for its sharp lines and aggressive stance. However, it adopts a new colour palette inspired by the RS 457, with white/red and purple/red shades already seen on the internet.
Although Aprilia has not officially disclosed pricing details, dealer sources suggest that the SR 175 is expected to be priced around Rs. 1.31 lakhs (ex-showroom), aligning closely with the current SR 160, which retails between Rs. 1.32 lakhs and Rs. 1.42 lakhs.
The SR 175 will be officially launched in India in July 2025, with more details likely to emerge closer to the date.
