The performance oriented Q8 is coming to India

Audi currently offers only 3 cars in India – A6, A8L and Q8. They have discontinued all diesel cars. Only petrol BS6 lineup being offered. The German luxury carmaker recently introduced online platform for sales.

Audi is expected to launch a new range of cars soon. Some of these will be the facelifts of the existing models. While there will be all-new products too like new gen Q3 and E-Tron all-electric crossover.

There is one more interesting product in the pipeline. It is the Audi RS Q8. Yes, the performance centric version of their flagship SUV. The carmaker is studying the market to launch the RS Q8 soon in India.

In terms of styling, it looks more sporty and aggressive than the regular model. The performance SUV gets blacked out grille, ORVMs and sporty 22-inch alloy wheels. The interior too is all-black with racey elements on offer.

Powering the Audi RS Q8 is a 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 petrol engine. It produces 600 PS at 6000 RPM and 800 Nm of torque at 2200-4500 RPM. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with AWD layout.

The fire breathing V8 engine is also equipped with 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This system helps in coasting with engine off to save fuel.

0-100 km/hr for the RS Q8 is claimed to be in 3.8 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/hr which can be optionally extended to 305 km/hr.

The pricing is expected to be upwards of Rs. 2 crores in India. In comparison, the Lamborghini Urus, which is based on the same platform is priced at Rs. 3.10 crores (ex-showroom).
