Caterham Brutus 750

Caterham, the UK based performance car maker has come up with a new motorcycle division, Caterham Bikes. The manufacturer has showcased three new prototype bikes at the 2013 EICMA Motorcycle Show – Brutus 750, Carbon e-bike and Classic e-bike. The Caterham Group’s key growth market will be in Asia, where demand for environment friendly and multi-purposed bikes is growing. Caterham Bikes products are intended to cater to a niche audience looking out for strong quality, bespoke design flare and easy to ride bikes.

The bikes showcased at the exhibition by Caterham have distinct styling and technology. However, the manufacturer has not yet revealed the technical specifications and the pricing of the motorcycles. First up is the Brutus 750, which Caterham likes to call as ‘SUV of motorcycles’. It has an imposing stance and is said to be nimble to ride. The Brutus 750 is claimed to be a multi-purpose motorcycle that can be used as a street bike, off-road machine or even a snowmobile, which can be converted in less than four hours.

The Brutus 750 is mated to an automatic transmission, adding to the convenience factor. The Brutus 750 boasts of massive tyres and reflects a stance of an enduro bike from the side. The chunky styling elements are distinct. Then there is the Carbon e-bike, which has minimalistic styling yet broad tyres. It is inspired by F1 technology and the Caterham is also working on a limited edition version having F1 inputs and materials. The Classic e-bike has a retro styling that reflects the golden age of British motorcycling. It has an electric range of 40-80 kms.
