General Motors has launched the Chevrolet Cruze in India at an introductory price of Rs. 10.99 lakh for the LT variant and Rs. 12.45 lakh for the LTZ variant (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi) and comes with a 3 years / 1,00,000kms warranty as standard. The car is powered by a 2.0 litre VDCi diesel engine which not only gives the Cruze power (150bhp) but also loads of torque (327Nm). According to ARAI, the Cruze would give a mileage of 18.3kmpl.
“The Cruze has been receiving rave reviews since its recent debut in some other markets. We expect it to perform well against the established D-segment players,” GM India President and MD Karl Slym said. “GM’s investments in manufacturing the Cruze in India is a demonstration of our sustained commitment to making Chevrolet the most admired and preferred vehicle brand in this country,” Slym added.
The Cruze is the first car in the segment to have Passive Entry Passive Start system which permits total keyless operation of the central locking system, anti-theft alarm system and ignition starter. There is absolutely no need of a mechanical key and the car starts with a mere push of a button. The system works when the the key is in your pocket and unlocks the car as soon as you come near it. Such features are usually seen in high end cars like the BMW 7 Series and the like. The ground clearance of the Cruze is just 165mm.
The Cruze LT comes with alloy wheels, follow me home headlamps, Airbags, ABS, all wheels discs, 205/60/16 JK Vectra tires and smart screen system which displays various information like outside temperature, date and time. The LTZ variants further adds Sunroof, 6 CD changer, Leather seats, steering mounted audio controls, Park Assists and cruise control. Another safety feature in the Cruze is emergency exit which lets the occupants escape in emergency situations by opening the boot with a lever on the inside of the boot.The Cruze is available in Atlantis Blue, Light Gold, Olympic White, Velvet Red, Misty Lake and Caviar Black.
