Harley-Davidson debuts X440 T with redesigned rear and feature upgrades
Harley-Davidson has introduced the X440 T, the second motorcycle developed under its partnership with Hero MotoCorp, arriving more than two years after the launch of the original X440. The new model brings a noticeably revised rear section along with several cosmetic and functional differences, while largely retaining the mechanical foundation of the standard bike.
The X440 T’s redesigned rear three-quarter profile addresses one of the key aesthetic criticisms of the earlier model. The new tail design is sharper, more cohesive and visually fills the space between the fender and rear wheel better than before. The motorcycle also gets bar-end mirrors and four new colour options, giving it a more distinctive appearance. Interestingly, no images of the front end have been released yet – likely because most elements remain similar to the X440 apart from the mirrors.
One notable change spotted in the images is the absence of the prominent throttle cable seen on the X440. This strongly suggests the shift to a ride-by-wire system. If confirmed, the bike could offer additional electronic features such as riding modes, switchable traction control and adjustable ABS. However, based on the switchgear design, cruise control does not appear to be included.
Harley-Davidson and Hero have not disclosed specifications, but visual cues confirm that the X440 T carries over the frame, engine, suspension components, wheel sizes, and dual disc braking setup from the X440. The current X440 is priced between Rs. 2.40 lakhs and Rs. 2.80 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the X440 T is expected to be positioned in a similar price bracket when launched.
Whether the new X440 T will replace the existing X440 in the Harley-Hero lineup in India is still unclear.
