Honda might launch the new CBR250R or the CBR300R at the RevFest on 4th August 2015 which will be the CBR650F’s launch event.

Honda CBR250R Spied India
Very minimal changes can be seen on the test mule

With the sales of quarter-litre bikes increasing in India continuously, various companies are launching new products in the category to gain the most out of it. Almost all major manufacturers have one or more bikes in the said segment. Honda too has the CBR250R but it has been there for too long and looks a bit dated now. While global markets have got a new CBR250R this year which gets new styling elements, the Indian market is yet to receive it. However, recently, a CBR250R was spotted under wraps which points to it being an updated version of the current bike.

Looking closely at the picture, a few things can be noticed –

  • Honda lettering in red colour on the crank case instead of the usual black
  • New MRF tyres replacing the IRC’s and Continental’s in the same size
  • The mudguard remains the same so does the exhaust
  • Other parts like chain guard, swingarm and footpegs remain the same too

All of this does look a bit strange considering that the new CBR series bikes get a new exhaust design along with a new fairing design. There seem to be two possibilities for the Indian market now. Either the new bike is coming with a few elements from the old bike itself to keep localisation levels high or the old bike is getting a facelift to make it look fresher. If it’s the latter, we would be disappointed considering the fact that the current bike has been around for quite a while now and the market deserves a completely new looking bike with an upgraded engine. Hoping that Honda surprises us on the 4th of August at the RevFest where new Honda product(s) are supposed to be launched.
