India’s Most Expensive Car Number Auctioned For Rs. 31 Lakhs

A Thiruvananthapuram-based pharmaceutical distributor has recently splurged for a registration number for his Porsche 718 Boxster.

The car gets a registration number worth Rs. 31 lakhs

K.S. Balagopal, the proprietor of a leading pharmaceuticals distribution company, spent Rs. 31 lakhs for the registration number of his choice. The auction was held by the Regional Transport Officer and the bidding started with Rs. 500/- and included over seven steps.

The registration number KL 01 CK 1 has been auctioned highest in the state and India and has surpassed the highest amount of Rs. 26 lakhs for a registration number seven years ago. The bidding amount saw an increase in the multiples of Rs 5 lakh, and Balagopal winning the bid with Rs. 30 lakh and got the number with an additional Rs 1 lakh for the application.

This was not the first time for Balagopal to spend extravagantly on fancy registration numbers. Back in the year 2017, he spent Rs. 19 lakhs for his Toyota Land Cruiser for the registration number KL 01 CB 1. He is fascinated by fancy registration numbers and says that he does not regret spending big on such numbers. He also spends generously for donating to flood relief funds.

Balagopal is the proprietor of Devi Pharma, one of the leading pharmaceuticals distribution companies in the country and has multiple luxury cars in his garage. Asked about his choice to buy Porsche 718 Boxster, Balagopal said that the beauty of the sports car and its unique colour Miami Blue attracted him to buy the car.
