Jawa 350 Three Quarter View

Jawa bike India launch in 2018, confirms Mr. Anand Mahindra via a tweet.

This is not the first time that Mr. Anand Mahindra has been tweeting about the resurrection of the Jawa brand

Anand Mahindra has confirmed that the launch of a Jawa bike is scheduled to happen in 2018 in India, via his Twitter handle. The tweet contains an image which tells ‘Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass, it’s about learning to ride in the rain.’ The bikes will be made available through a dedicated Jawa dealership network and will primarily go against the segment heavyweight Royal Enfield.

The Mahindra Group owns rights to the Jawa and BSA brands through Classic Legends Pvt Ltd. Previously, there have been reports that the upcoming Jawa bike will come powered the same 300cc single-cylinder engine that powers the Mahindra Mojo. The motor is likely to be tuned differently with different power and torque figures. Nonetheless, Mahindra is yet to throw light on this.

Having said that, the Jawa 350 Special was recently unveiled in Europe. The bike employs a 397cc single-cylinder, air-cooled and fuel-injected mill that produces 27 HP and 30 Nm. The powertrain works in tandem with a 5-speed gearbox. The 2-wheeler wing of the Indian auto major has said that its main focus will be on the premium motorcycle segment and it remains to be seen whether the Gusto and the Centuro will be discontinued in the future (as they are still featured in the official website).
