2014 Kawasaki Z1000

Kawasaki had set up its first exclusive showroom in India at Wakdewadi in Pune recently, starting its solo journey with its range of superbikes. Kawasaki unveiled the new 2014 Z1000 motorcycle at the 2013 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan recently. The Kawasaki dealership is now accepting pre-launch bookings for the Z1000 while the official bookings will commence from the first week of December ahead of its launch on the 25th of December. We were the first to report about Kawasaki’s plans to bring the Z1000 to India. Kawasaki is also setting up a dealership in Mumbai which will open by the end of the year.

The 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 street-fighter motorcycle is currently garnering a sum of Rs 5,00,000/- as booking fee while the deliveries will only commence from January, next year. Though the vehicle was showcased at the EICMA only last week, it comes as a surprise that the company is bringing this product to the Indian shores at such a short notice. One of the most conspicuous changes to the 2014 Z1000 is that it gets a new headlamp assembly which is a LED spec unit being a first from any Japanese manufacturer.

The Kawasaki Z1000 features a 1043cc in-line 4-cylinder engine that produces a peak power output of 140 BHP at 10,000 RPM with a maximum torque output of 110 Nm at 7500 RPM. The bike gets a 6-speed manual transmission unit while prominence has been given to the ride quality suiting everyday usage rather than outright track-oriented performance characteristics. Latest features on the Z1000 include fully digital console, Economy Riding Indicator, ABS and dual throttle valves amongst many others. The “Sugomi” inspired bike is indicated to be priced at Rs. 12.5 lakhs ex-showroom, Mumbai. The Z1000 will take on the likes of the Honda CB1000R, Yamaha FZ1 amongst many other street-fighter bikes sold here in India and will be brought in through the CBU route.
