Of late, Mahindra is turning aggressive with its 2-wheeler department by planning a range of new products in many segments. One of the upcoming offerings from the manufacturer has been spotted testing recently. It is a budget commuter motorcycle for the 110cc segment, which is said to be a cut price version of the Mahindra Pantero. The test mule of the budget motorcycle was spotted near the Mahindra two-wheeler Research and Development facility at Chinchwad, near Pune.

A noticeable change on the looks of the cut priced Pantero is the round shaped basic headlamp which has no fairing unlike the Pantero, which features a faired headlamp. Mahindra has also removed the alloy wheels and electric starter in the budget motorcycle, rest of the design elements remain untouched. Powering the new motorcycle will be the same 106cc 4-stroke engine, mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. It will be an entry level motorcycle competing with the likes of the Hero HF Dawn and TVS Star City.

The cut price Pantero is expected to be priced considerably lower than the Pantero and is being targeted as a big volume churner for Mahindra, as it will cater to a wider audience. Recently the company introduced the feature loaded Centuro and are planning to introduce more bikes every six months. To compete with the Pulsar segment, Mahindra is planning to launch 150cc and 180cc motorcycles next year. The Mahindra Mojo is also being prepared for launch soon with a 300cc engine and unique styling.
