
Maruti Suzuki Fronx Scores 4 Out Of 5 Stars In JNCAP Crash Test, Available With AWD & 1.5-Litre Hybrid Engine In Japan
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx scored 4 out of 5 stars in the Japan NCAP crash test. The compact SUV scored 84%, derived from 163.75 out of 193.8 points. This includes the measures for preventive safety and collision safety.
Preventive Safety
Preventive Safety takes into account how the vehicle performs in order to prevent an accident. The Fronx scores 92%, derived from a score of 79.42 out of 85.8 points. The Fronx scores 5 out of 5 points in Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) in the respective scenarios, i.e. pedestrian at daytime, pedestrian at night and bicyclist.
However, the Fronx fell short in the Intersection scenario of AEB, scoring 3 out of 5 points. In the high-performance headlights and pedal misapplication prevention, the Fronx scores 4 out of 5 points. The assessment for lane departure prevention assist is where the Fronx scores a perfect score of 5 out of 5 points.
Collision Safety
Collision Safety is a measure of how the car protects the occupants in case of an accident. The Fronx scores 76%, derived from 76.33 out of 100 points. In passenger and pedestrian protection, the compact SUV scores 52.29 points and 24.05 points, respectively. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx scored 5 out of 5 points in full wrap frontal collision, side collision (driver’s seat), and pedestrian leg protection tests.
In terms of neck injury protection, rear-end collision (driver and passenger seats) and passenger seat belt reminder, the Fronx scores 4 out of 5 points. The pedestrian head protection test yielded an acceptable score of 3 out of 5 points. The impact tests were conducted at 55 Km/hr.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is entirely manufactured in India. With a price of Rs. 7.5 Lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it a popular choice. There are 6 variants and 3 powertrain options. The powertrain options include a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine, 1.2-litre CNG engine and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
Outlook
The Japanese market gets an All-Wheel-Drive system and a 1.5-litre mild hybrid system. With the assessment program results, the Fronx can solidify its image and reputation in the minds of Indian and Japanese buyers. Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx is the second car to be exported to Japan after the Baleno.
