Mercedes T Class MPV
The car will be designed to offer loads of practicality and comfort

Mercedes-Benz has teased its new T-Class MPV, something that would suit big families looking for a premium and practical car.

Despite having the V-Class luxury MPV, Mercedes says the T-Class would be up for sale in the first half of 2022. This, however, means that the car will be unveiled only by next year.

The Mercedes T-Class MPV teaser image shows the car will get a fresh nose, a larger glass area and the German automaker would surely try its best to get rid of that “van” feeling.

It would have to do that since the Mercedes T-Class MPV is said to be based on the new Citan van, which will be based on the Renault Kangoo, which in turn would share components with the Dacia Dokker.

The Citan is being developed in cooperation with the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. But expect the German giant to do its best to make the T-Class as premium-feeling as possible and offer lots of features and tech to attract families.

Also, the T-Class MPV would get sliding doors to further increase the practicality quotient. One more thing that we know of is that Mercedes has already planned an electric version of the T-Class, which is speculated to be launched sometime after the normal car goes on sale.

In India, if one wants to buy a Mercedes MPV, they’ll have to shell out at least Rs. 89.34 lakhs (on-road Mumbai) and purchase the V-Class that comes in a 6-seater long-wheelbase variant.

Among several features offered on the car are luxury seats with massaging function, climate control, Burmester surround sound system with 15 speakers. The MPV comes powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine which is BS6 compliant.

We would have to wait and see if the market tilts towards MPVs when the T-Class gets launched, because the world is gripped by SUV craze and the situation is the same in our country as well.
