Mercedes-Benz plans India launch of V-Class extra long wheelbase luxury MPV
Mercedes-Benz is expected to reintroduce the V-Class in India, this time in an extra long wheelbase configuration. While the German luxury carmaker has not officially confirmed the launch timeline, sources suggest the model could arrive in the coming months, with customer deliveries likely to commence by June 2026.
Mercedes-Benz first introduced the V-Class in India in 2019, positioning it as a premium people mover aimed primarily at chauffeur-driven buyers. At the time, the V-Class was priced from Rs. 68.40 lakhs (ex-showroom) and was powered by a 2.1-litre diesel engine producing 161 BHP and 380 Nm of torque. Despite its strong focus on comfort and brand appeal, the model remained a niche offering in the luxury MPV space.
The upcoming extra long wheelbase version is expected to place even greater emphasis on rear-seat comfort, with increased cabin space and improved legroom compared to the earlier India-spec model. This configuration is typically designed to cater to high-end private buyers, luxury fleet operators and corporate customers.
Under the bonnet, the new V-Class is expected to feature Mercedes-Benz’s newer OM654 2.0-litre diesel engine. This powertrain is already used across several Mercedes-Benz models globally and is known for improved efficiency, refinement and lower emissions compared to the older 2.1-litre unit.
Pricing for the V-Class extra long wheelbase is estimated to be around Rs. 1.70 crores (ex-showroom), although final figures will depend on factors such as variant selection, equipment levels and whether the model is imported as a completely built unit (CBU) or assembled locally via the CKD route. Details regarding variants and localisation strategy are yet to be disclosed.
More information on specifications, features and final pricing is expected closer to the official launch.
