MG teases Majestor SUV with diesel power and Fortuner-rival positioning
JSW MG Motor India has released the first teaser for its upcoming Majestor SUV, confirming its unveiling on 12 February. The model is expected to compete in the full-size body-on-frame SUV segment, where the Toyota Fortuner currently dominates.
Exterior Design Details
The teaser reveals the SUV’s face, featuring a multi-element LED lighting arrangement, angular daytime running lamps and a wide, dark-finished grille with horizontal slats. A silver-finished lower skid plate can also be seen, suggesting a rugged design direction. More styling and dimensional details are likely to emerge closer to its showcase.
Interior and Features (Expected)
While the cabin has not yet been shown, the Majestor is expected to offer a competitive equipment list for the segment. Likely features include a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a Level 2 ADAS suite – in line with recent MG offerings. Seating configurations, materials and comfort features are still under wraps.
Powertrain and Capability
The Majestor is expected to feature a four-wheel-drive setup and could share its powertrain with the MG Gloster. If so, it would use a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. In the Gloster, this engine produces 213 HP and 478 Nm, giving it stronger power output than the Fortuner’s 2.8-litre diesel unit, although the Toyota offers slightly higher peak torque.
Market Position and Outlook
MG models are often characterised by spacious interiors and long feature lists, so it will be interesting to see how the Majestor positions itself in terms of comfort, performance and pricing. The full-size SUV space remains small but profitable in India and the Majestor’s arrival could bring much-needed competition to the segment.
