Amid the Coronavirus crisis in the country, MG Motor is sticking to their timeline of product launches in India. The Chinese carmaker SAIC backed brand has the MG ZS petrol version launch in the pipeline.

MG Motor will introduce the Hector Plus in the next three months and Gloster flagship SUV by November. The carmaker is planning to introduce the MG ZS petrol after that, which is scheduled to launch by March 2021.

The MG ZS EV was launched in January this year with a starting price of Rs. 19.88 lakhs (ex-showroom). Now the carmaker is planning to target the mass market segment with a regular petrol version of the ZS.

They showcased the MG ZS petrol at the Auto Expo 2020. While the interior was hidden, the exterior had some styling tweaks over the EV.

The front grille in the petrol version is different, it looks sporty and doesn’t extend into the headlights. The headlights are also different with new DRL detailing while the front and rear bumpers are also distinguished. The alloy wheel design is different too and there are LED tail lights with distinct detailing.

The MG ZS petrol is expected to be launched in the price range of Rs. 9-15 lakhs (ex-showroom) competing directly with the new Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The ZS is slightly smaller in size compared to the MG Hector.

MG Motor currently offers the ZS petrol in UK with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. In China, a 1.3-litre turbo petrol is offered as well with the ZS. It is yet to be confirmed which engine will be offered in India.
