SUV sales disturbed in March 2020, many positions changed.

Mid-Size SUV Sales March 2020

So it’s not only about SUV sales but all the vehicles have seen a sharp decline in numbers. SUVs have been affected a lot because most of the diesel engines have been discontinued and majority of the SUVs are diesel powered.

On top of that, COVID-19 crisis is worsening the situation, so the March 2020 stats are quite disappointing, specially for SUVs.

The Kia Seltos again manages to retain the top spot with 7466 units. Sales almost halved compared to February 2020 when it did 14,024 unit sales. The Hyundai Creta climbs up the chart with the new generation doing 6706 units.

The MG Hector holds a distant third position with 1402 unit sales. Tata Harrier sees 75 percent fall in YoY sales with 632 units. Nissan Kicks scores 519 with 26 percent fall in numbers while Jeep Compass does 163 with a huge 89 percent fall.

The Renault Duster manages 150 units with 83 percent fall in numbers. MG ZS EV scores 116 units, which is quite impressive for an electric car. The huge shocker here is the Mahindra Scorpio doing only 40 units with 99 percent YoY fall in numbers!

The Hyundai Kona, another electric SUV in the list, does 14 units. Mahindra XUV500 manages only 9 units with 100 percent fall in sales. The Maruti S-Cross, Renault Captur, Nissan Terrano and Tata Safari Storme were discontinued long time back and hence no sales.

Premium SUV Sales March 2020

The Toyota Fortuner leads the pack of premium SUV sales. It scores 1100 unit sales, still 44 percent YoY decline. Ford manages to sell only 381 units of the Endeavour with 33 percent fall in sales. Skoda Kodiaq holds the third position with 59 units and 77 percent fall in numbers.

Honda CR-V does only 14 units with 87 percent decline and Volkswagen sells only 4 units with a massive 93 percent fall. Mahindra Alturas G4 and Hyundai Tucson get no numbers.

All the SUVs have seen negative figures in March 2020 with the matters expected to get worse in the coming months.
