Next Generation Nissan Sunny India Launch In 2018

The next generation Nissan Sunny is likely to be launched sometime in 2018 and will come with a petrol engine only.

The 2018 Nissan Sunny will be based on the Micra with an extended wheelbase

Nissan has commenced working on the new Sunny that is likely to come to India sometime in 2018. The new Sunny will be based on the CMF-A platform that also underpins the Micra hatchback. However, the next generation Nissan Sunny will boast of having an extended wheelbase for some additional legroom.

Nissan also confirms that the new Sunny won’t be stretched to the same extent as the current iteration Sunny, what the company wants to achieve with this is a right balance between space and agility. Like the current model, new Sunny too will be a global model and will be sold in both right-hand as well as left-hand drive markets.

For the international markets, the Sunny will be based on the latest version of the V platform while the India-spec Sunny will be underpinning the CMF architecture. The new Sunny will be offered with a 1.5-litre 109 HP petrol engine that powers the Renault Duster CVT as well, sadly there won’t be a diesel engine. Transmission options are expected to include the X-Tronic CVT automatic gearbox.

The new Nissan Sunny will compete in the C-segment with the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Fiat Linea, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
