Royal Enfield has opened its first showroom in Thailand

Royal Enfield is one of the rare Indian automotive brands which enjoys a cult following in both India and all over the world, especially among long distance riders. There is even a saying regarding the motorcycle that ‘If you don’t take your Royal Enfield to Leh-Laddakh in its first 2 years, the bike will leave you and go to the Himalayas itself!’.

The company is one of the fastest growing motorcycle brands in the world and has a global retail footprint across the UK, Europe, Latin America and Middle-East. Now the automaker has added South-East Asia to that list too by opening its first showroom in Thonglor, Bangkok in Thailand.

Royal Enfield believes that Thailand is the right choice for the automaker’s entry due to the country’s big population of enthusiastic and seasoned riders. The company has opened its first store in collaboration with General Auto Supply Co. Ltd. and will sell a number of bikes, apparels and accessories in the country. It should also be noted that Thailand is the fifth largest two-wheeler market in the world. Royal Enfield says that Bangkok is a part of the company’s larger strategy to expand its operations worldwide, which includes its presence in London, Bogota, Medellin, Dubai, Madrid, Paris and Jakarta.

The company has announced pricing of 4 bikes for now. It will sell the Royal Enfield Bullet priced at THB 1,79,800/- (Rs. 3.45 lakh), Royal Enfield Classic 500 will cost THB 1,89,800/- (Rs. 3.64 lakh) and the Royal Enfield Classic Chrome for THB 1,98,800/- (Rs. 3.81 lakh). The Royal Enfield Continental GT café racer, which has an engine displacement of 535cc, will be sold for THB 2,19,800/- (Rs. 4.22 lakh).

Royal Enfield has been on a roll lately. The company’s sales grew by 65% in the April-January period this fiscal to 47,710 units as against 28,927 units in the year-ago period. The bike-maker’s showrooms are a motorcycle enthusiast’s dream with cafe type dim lighting, fashionable apparels on sale, exclusive bike gear and accessories on display and even some art in form of a wall display of a stripped down Continental GT showcasing the bike’s internals and frame.
