The Suzuki Hayate EP gets minor changes

Having tried its hand at the commuter segment with the Slingshot and a couple of other offerings, Suzuki launched the Hayate in 2012. In order to garner attention, it also marketed the bike heavily by roping in Bollywood celebs but it didn’t seem to help sales. However, the company hasn’t lost hope and has launched the refreshed version of the motorcycle.

The Suzuki Hayate EP as it is now called, is priced at Rs. 62,166/- (on-road, Mumbai) which is very similar to the outgoing model’s price. There are minor changes to the bike to improve its looks and performance. The Japanese bikemaker has incorporated SEP technology into the motorcycle to improve its fuel efficiency.

The other changes on the Hayate EP include high ignition spark plug, super sleek piston and low friction cylinder rings. This has helped Suzuki up the power to 8.9 PS and torque to 9.3 Nm. To give a perspective, the older model produced 8.4 PS of power and 8.8 Nm of torque. The same 4-speed gearbox continues to do duty on the motorcycle.

The graphics on the body of the Suzuki Hayate EP are also new. It also gets a maintenance free battery and a 5-step adjustable rear shock absorber. Available in a choice of three colours, the commuter motorcycle is likely to see good demand now. The company recently launched the updated Access 125 too.
