Tata Motors planning 110 BHP diesel for the Altroz

Tata Motors is about to launch the new Altroz premium hatchback in the Indian market. The car will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. However, Tata is also planning a JTP version of the Altroz.

The Indian carmaker is considering to introduce a more powerful 110 BHP diesel with the sporty JTP edition. Currently the 1.5-litre diesel mill in the Altroz produces 90 BHP and it feels quite punchy but imagine this hatch with 20 HP more!

However, the JTP editions are likely to be introduced later in 2021 which is a long time to go. Also, the introduction of the JTP models will be considered based on the sales volumes of the Altroz.

The 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol motor is also likely to get turbocharged in the JTP version offering a boost in power figures from the current 85 BHP from the naturally aspirated engine.
