Tata Altroz Specs
Tata has decided to move the launch date to early 2020

The Tata Altroz was unveiled as a concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. The much-anticipated premium hatchback was expected to arrive later this year with first a BS4 compliant engine and then a BS6 compliant one closely after. However, the Indian automobile manufacturer has now decided to just straightaway introduce the vehicle early next year with BS6-compliant engines for a hassle-free rollout.

The Tata Altroz is expected to come with 3 engine options- the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated 3-cylinder motor from the Tiago producing 85 PS, a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol seen on the Nexon and Tiago JTP, delivering 102 PS and a 4-cylinder turbo-diesel motor producing 90 PS.

The premium hatchback is expected to be equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a segment-first part-digital instrument cluster. The Tata Altroz will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno (Rs. 5.89 lakhs), Toyota Glanza (Rs. 8.90 lakhs), Hyundai i20 (Rs. 5.53 lakhs) and Honda Jazz (Rs. 7.45 lakhs). Expect it to be priced according to the segment somewhere between Rs. 5.4 to Rs. 8 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom).
