Tata Motors finally taste success after the Tiago enters the top 10 list of car sales in November 2016. 6 out of 10 cars are Maruti.
There are some dynamic ups and downs in the top 10 car sales figures in November 2016. We can also see the demonetisation effect on the numbers but certain entry level cars are unaffected. What comes as a big surprise is the introduction of the Tata Tiago for the first time in the top 10 list.
Selling 6008 units last month, the passenger vehicle division of Tata Motors has seen 47 percent contribution of the Tiago. The hatchback takes the 10th spot and helps Tata Motors regain the third position in OEM ranking. It is a good sign from the Indian customer changing the brand perception of Tata.
As always, Maruti Suzuki is all over the place with 6 out of 10 cars in the list being Maruti. The Indo-Japanese carmaker is ruling the top 5 positions in November 2016 with Alto, DZire, Wagon R, Swift and Baleno respectively. After the Grand i10 in 6th position we can see the Celerio with 9543 units in 7th.
There are only two Hyundai cars in the top 10 list. The highest selling Hyundai being the Grand i10 with 11,059 units. Hyundai has discontinued the i10 so we expect some more numbers of the Grand i10 in the coming months. Both the Grand i10 and Elite i20 have seen a fall compared to October 2016.
In October 2016 sales we saw Vitara Brezza amongst the top 10 sellers but this time around we are witnessing affordable hatchbacks as a majority and cars under the Rs. 10 lakh mark. Apart from the Maruti DZire, all other cars in the list are hatchbacks and there are no sedans or SUVs in the list.
