Tork Kratos Side
The company says the Kratos has been completely designed and made in India

The asking price of the Tork Kratos R is Rs. 15,000/- more than the base model’s cost

Tork Motors has launched the Kratos electric motorcycle at a price of Rs. 1.08 lakh and the Kratos R at Rs. 1.23 lakh (prices are ex-showroom, Pune), today in India.

Both models can be booked by interested persons by paying a token amount of Rs. 999/- starting today. They will be initially available in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune. Deliveries will commence from April.

Featuring a proper modern naked bike design, the Kratos is a sharp-looking piece of equipment. It has LED lights, a digital dash, sculpted tank with storage, split seat set up, alloy wheels and a rear tyre hugger.

Known earlier as the T6X, the Kratos is built on a split trellis frame. It has an USB port, a decent 165 mm of road clearance and stopping power comes from a disc brake at each end with CBS. Yes, there is regenerative braking as well.

The EV comes with hazard light and ‘guide-me-home’ feature

Let us look at both models in detail, starting with the Kratos. Available in white colour only, the base model features a 4 kWh Lithium-ion battery and utilises a 48 V system voltage.

It is powered by an electric motor that makes a peak power of 7.5 kW (10 BHP) and 4 kW (5.4 BHP) of continuous power. Peak torque is rated at 28 Nm and the motor is teamed to a single-speed transmission.

The electric bike takes 4 seconds to sprint from nought to 40 km/hr, while the top speed is capped at 100 km/hr. The claimed range is 180 km (Indian Driving Cycle), but the company says one can expect a real world range of 120 km.

This being the base model, it does not come with fast-charging capability. Customers of this variant will not have free access to Tork’s upcoming charging network named Tork NET (or simply T NET).

However, the brand will provide a home charger and, despite it not coming with many features, the electric motorcycle does support OTA updates, has an anti-theft system, safe home feature and drive modes (Eco, City and Sports) with reverse.

The electric motor which uses axial flux technology is 96 percent efficient, says Tork

The Kratos R, on the other hand, can be had with Black, Blue, Red and White paint options. It has the same 4 kWh battery pack and claimed range figures as the base model.

Where the R is superior is when it comes to performance figures. It has a 9 kW (12.1 BHP) electric motor that delivers 38 Nm of peak torque. As a result, the motorcycle can do the 0-40 km/hr sprint in 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 105 km/hr.

Also, unlike the base model, the Kratos R has fast-charging capability. Thus, its Lithium-ion battery can be charged to up to 80 percent in 1 hour (claimed). Using regular power supply, the battery can be charged in 4-5 hours.

Furthermore, it has dedicated features (which can be accessed through an app) such as geofencing, find my vehicle function, motor walk assist, crash alert, track mode and analytics, smart charge analysis and vacation mode.

It too comes with a home charger and in addition, customers of the R will have free access to the company’s fast charging network for 2 years. The dedicated app can be used to locate the chargers which, the company says, will be placed at popular riding locations.

Moreover, both models come with a payload of 150 kg and a standard warranty of 3 years or 40,000 km. They will be serviced by Tork’s service team at each customer’s doorstep (no service interval provided).

Tork has also said the Kratos range will be available in 100 cities across the nation when it expands its network as part of its phase 2 plans. But, no timeline was mentioned.
