Toyota has launched a new variant of the Corolla Altis in India and it comes with some new features while the powertrains remain the same.

Toyota has launched a limited edition of its high-selling D-segment sedan. The Toyota Corolla Altis LE has been launched at a price tag of Rs. 14.68 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol variant and Rs. 16 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the diesel variant. This limited edition variant comes with certain additions to the equipment list and some minor bits and pieces added to the sedan. It remains unchanged on the mechanical front though.

The Toyota Corolla Altis LE comes with a SmartLink infotainment system with voice and gesture control, front door courtesy lamp, wood finish on door trim and gear lever bezel, leather seats embossed with “Limited Edition” and Limited Edition badges on the C-pillar and bootlid. The model is available in only two colours – Pearl White and Black. Apart from these, no other changes have been made to the vehicle.

On the mechanical front, the Corolla Altis is powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine that produces 138 HP of power at 6400 RPM and 173 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The sedan also gets a 1.4-litre diesel engine pumping out 87 HP of power at 3800 RPM and 205 Nm of torque at 1800 RPM. The oil-burner also gets a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The Toyota Corolla Altis competes with the Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze, Renault Fluence and Volkswagen Jetta. The Corolla has been selling in very good numbers even though it is really lacking when it comes to power. The vehicle is mostly preferred for its comfort, Toyota’s bullet-proof reliability and service. The sedan is priced from Rs. 13.06 lakhs to Rs. 17.73 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
