The Apache 200 will be sharing several traits with the Draken concept and the Victor moniker will be resurrected after a hiatus while the most selling TVS Moped will see a new 4-stroke motor.

The Draken concept has played a dominating role in the development of the new Apache

At the recently held 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM), TVS Motor Company announced its plans of launching three new motorcycles over the next six months that will include the highly awaited Apache 200, the resurrected Victor and an updated version of the Super XL moped. The announcement comes in sync with the manufacturer’s plan of launching a new two-wheeler every quarter and all the three upcoming offerings are extremely important for the automaker’s future growth.

To begin with, TVS will finally introduce its highly awaited new generation Apache 200 that is likely to go on sale later this year. The new model has been heavily inspired from the Draken concept that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and will be sharing several design traits with the latter. While the outgoing flagship Apache uses a 180cc motor, the new version will get an uprated 200cc single-cylinder unit tuned to produce around 25 BHP of power. The new engine will come paired to a 6-speed gearbox with dual-channel ABS to be offered as standard. The new Apache likely to be called ‘RTR 200’ will be directly competing against the new Bajaj Pulsar 200 series in the segment.

Up next, TVS will be bringing back to life its very popular Victor moniker to an all new motorcycle. The new bike is said to be a 125cc offering that will be sharing its powertrain with the outgoing Phoenix but is likely to be positioned as a highly fuel efficient and simple offering. The new Victor has been caught testing on a number of occasions earlier this year and appeared to be production ready, hinting towards a launch around the festive season. In terms of competition, the model will fend off the Honda CB Shine, Hero Glamour, Yamaha Saluto and the likes.

Lastly, TVS is planning to infuse some new life into its best selling product the Super XL moped. Known for its hauling duties and impressive reliability, the moped will finally see a 4-stroke unit under its belly, replacing the outgoing 70cc 2-stroke unit that produces 3.5 BHP and 7 Nm of torque. The new motor will also see improved power output and better fuel economy while the design could see upgrades as well.

A strong product backing TVS, the Super XL continues to be a consistent seller for the company making it to the top 10 sales list every month, while also being the only other two-wheeler in India after the Hero Splendor to cross the 10 million mark in sales. While the chronological order for the launch of each of these models is not known yet, expect TVS to shed some light on the same in the coming weeks.

The new Victor will be positioned as an economical executive motorcycle in the segment
