Ultraviolette launches battery subscription scheme to reduce X-47 electric motorcycle price

Ultraviolette Automotive has launched a new ownership programme for its X-47 crossover electric motorcycle, aimed at reducing the initial purchase cost for buyers. The initiative, called Battery Flex, introduces a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model that separates the cost of the motorcycle and the battery.

Under this scheme, customers can buy the Ultraviolette X-47 at a starting price of Rs. 1.49 lakhs, while the battery is offered through a subscription plan. The monthly subscription for the battery begins at Rs. 2499, allowing buyers to pay for the battery separately instead of including it in the upfront vehicle cost.

According to the company, this approach can lower the initial purchase price by around 40 percent compared to the standard ownership model where the battery is included in the vehicle price. The move is intended to make the electric motorcycle more accessible to a wider group of buyers.

The battery subscription package also includes a five-year warranty for the battery pack. After the subscription period is completed, the ownership of the battery will be transferred to the customer without any additional payment.

Ultraviolette has partnered with Ecofy, a green-focused non-banking financial company, to introduce the new programme. Through this collaboration, the company aims to provide a flexible ownership structure while promoting the adoption of electric mobility.

The X-47 crossover is one of Ultraviolette’s latest electric two-wheeler offerings. With the introduction of the Battery Flex model, the company expects to attract more buyers by providing an alternative purchase option that reduces the upfront financial commitment.
