Waiting Period On Royal Enfield Bikes Down To Under Four Months

Royal Enfield bikes and their ‘thump’ have a lot of fans in India but the company always faced difficulty in timely delivery of bikes to customers. Many customers also used to get frustrated of the long waiting periods, opting for products from other manufacturers. To solve this problem, Royal Enfield announced a new plant at Chennai and now it seems that this new production facility is helping the company meet the increasing demand for its bikes. Now the dealers inform us that all Royal Enfield models, including the Continental GT have a waiting period of less than four months.

For those who were waiting for Royal Enfield to launch new products this year will face a slight disappointment since the company isn’t going to introduce any new bikes this year. The existing range will surely be updated and all the bikes are set to get new colours. The Thunderbird 350 has already got two new colours – Lightning and Marine. Royal Enfield currently sells the Continental GT Cafe Racer, Thunderbird 350 and 500 in the cruiser series, Classic 350, Classic 500, Classic Chrome, Classic Battle Green and Classic Desert Storm in the Retro Street series and the Bullet 350 TwinSpark, Bullet Electra EFI and Bullet 500 in the Standard Street series.

Since the two-wheeler market is seeing a growth in sales of premium and niche bikes now, Royal Enfield has started working on new products to fight it out with the competition. Triumph Motorcycles entered India on a high note and the company is eyeing the Rs. 3-5 lakh segment as we reported earlier. Even Harley-Davidson launched the Street 750 which is a sub Rs. 5 lakh bike. To survive in the battle, Royal Enfield will be introducing new motorcycles that will be based on platforms shared with the new Continental GT.
