Yamaha unveils EC-06 electric scooter with 160 km range, India launch 2026

Yamaha has taken its first major step into India’s fast-growing electric two-wheeler market with the unveiling of the EC-06 electric scooter. The model, positioned as a maxi-style EV, blends futuristic styling with a focus on practicality. While the price has not yet been announced, Yamaha confirmed that further details and launch timelines will be shared in the first quarter of 2026.

At its core, the EC-06 is powered by a 4kWh fixed battery pack, offering a certified range of 160 km on a single charge. The battery supports standard home charging, requiring around nine hours for a full recharge. Powering the scooter is a 4.5kW electric motor, capable of producing a peak output of 6.7kW. Yamaha has not yet disclosed its top speed figures.

In terms of features, the EC-06 takes a more functional approach. It comes equipped with an LCD instrument cluster instead of a TFT screen like the Aerox-E, but gains a built-in telematics system with SIM connectivity, allowing riders to access real-time vehicle data. The scooter also includes three ride modes and a reverse assist function for easier manoeuvrability in tight urban spaces.

Practicality remains a key focus, with 24.5 litres of under-seat storage, making it convenient for everyday use. Overall, the EC-06 appears to target riders seeking a balance between technology, range, and usability within the growing premium EV segment.
