General Motors had showcased the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible at the recently concluded 2012 Auto Expo. This is not the first time the Camaro has made its way to India, at the 2010 Auto Expo, the Bumblebee edition of the Chevrolet Camaro SS was showcased. Now GM is considering the introduction of the Camaro in India. This muscle car will serve as a brand builder for GM, which has not been accepted well in the premium segments. The right hand drive version of the Camaro will be brought in as a completely built unit and will be priced around Rs. 50 lakhs. GM already sells the Camaro in RHD form in the UK and Australia, with prices starting at Rs. 26 lakhs (€38,900). GM does not intend to sell many units of the pony car and will allocate around 50 units in the initial lot.

Chevrolet Camaro Interior

The Chevrolet Camaro is powered by a 6.2-litre LS3 V8 engine, which produces 432 HP of power and 569 Nm of torque. This helps the Camaro to hit 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds (for the coupe) and 5.4 seconds for the convertible. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. For India, we will get the automatic version, which is powered by a 6.2-litre L99 V8 engine, which produces 405 HP of power and 556 Nm of torque. The Chevrolet Camaro automatic takes 0.2 seconds more to reach 100 km/h. All the versions of the Camaro are limited to a top speed of 250 km/h. The Camaro rides on 20-inch wheels and competes with the Ford Mustang internationally.
