Bajaj Discover 125ST Launch

Bajaj Auto has launched the 2012 Discover motorcycle in India. The new Bajaj Discover is called the Discover ST (Sports Tourer) and features a 125cc, twin-spark, air-cooled, 4-valve engine which produces 12.8 BHP of peak power output at 9000 RPM and 11 Nm of torque output at 7000 RPM. The new Discover 125 ST uses ExhausTec technology and has a top speed of 105 km/h and features corrugated fins for better engine cooling. The bike also features petal discs and a mono-shock suspension. The Bajaj Discover ST will be available by the end of June with pricing starting at around Rs. 53,000/-. Meanwhile the Pulsar 200 NS delivers could start as late as July.

The new Discover uses a semi double cradle frame which Bajaj claims is anti-vibration. The front suspension is a telescopic fork with anti-friction DU bush, while the rear uses a Nitroxx mono-shock with gas canister. The Discover features kick and electric start mechanism and uses a 5-speed gearbox. The front features a 200 mm petal disc while the rear uses a 130 mm drum. The 17-inch tyres are mounted on newly designed alloy wheels. The Discover features a wheelbase which measures 1305 mm, while the ground clearance is 170 mm. The fuel tank capacity is 10 liters while the Discover ST weighs 124.5 kgs.

“We believe that the average Indian commuter has to compromise a lot for fuel efficiency. With the Discover ST we are making a statement that mileage need not come with boring design and outdated features,” K Srinivas, President, Motorcycle Business, Bajaj Auto, said.

Rajiv Bajaj says that he does not want to be in the rat race of the number game but wants to be the specialist in the segments Bajaj Auto is currently present. The company says it wants to redefine commuter motorcycles from ‘ChaltaHai’ to ‘DaudtaHai’. Pricing has not been announced yet and Bajaj will announce it in second half of June.

    Go go go BAJAJ !!!

  • Aryan

Nice statement by President of bajaj

  • vijay

well done bajaj….impressive design , specification….but rear mud guard need to be removed

    • Aryan

there r 2 mudguards…. on ur necessity u can remove anyone of them, best option given by bajaj

    • vijay

      Thanks Aryan,

If it’s removable then i will remove the upper one. So that it will complete the mean of ST.

      Bajaj rocks…..

    • Amit

      actually there r 3 mudguards..:s

  • Amrit

A very good bike no doubt. But bajaj is playing very smart. Instead of making a bike available straight away, it just unveils them. People keep delaying the purchases till bike becomes available, thus bajaj can expect a very good demand when it comes to the dealers. Also it slows down the sales of competing models.

  • madhu

No matter what others say I always believe in bajaj…and with the last couples of launches bajaj has proved that soon it’ll be a manufacturer recognized by whole world…

    • vijay

many people including me……are having trust on Bajaj. I m using two bikes from very long time and very satisfied.

  • sarfarz

    Hamara bajaj
    Buland bharat ki
    Buland tasveeeR !!!!

  • Pulsarboy

I like the way Bajaj always forces competition to play catch up, they are always two steps ahead of competition as far as latest tech is concerned. Nobody would’ve imagined them to plonk in a monoshock for a 125cc bike!! that’s just incredible.

    • vijay

alos 13 ps from 125 cc ……it’s best in this segment.

    • Faisal

Pulsarboy, competition is always a good thing, ain’t it ;-)

  • Sushrut

It gets monoshock but fuel filler is not flush with the tank!! No idea why they do such things.

  • Manty Ahmed

Thanku ninu for the report :-)

    • Ninu

      you always welcome….Manty :)

  • Amit

I am the owner of a Discover 150. i have my faith in Bajaj in terms of evrything, but there should have been an RPM meter in th ODO..and it looks a mixture of Suzuki Slingshot and HH Glamour but, all-in-all agood bike…very nice job done by Bajaj

  • Krishna6233

jealous of splendor n Passion Pro :D

    • Amit

      Dear Krishna6233,

Its nt abt jealous Bro, Bajaj has its own kind of Product, just meant that the Discover 150 deserved an rpm meter

  • sarfarz lucknowi

    The younger brother of
    Pulsar !!!

    • Amit

      Dear sarfaraz,

its a no match for the looks and styles of the Pulsar.its not even the match for the Old discover models. it looks more like the HH Glamour. It doesnt give that feel like in the pulsars or the Discover models

    • Aryan

@ Amit… did u saw the bike physically??? just from pic u can’t comment things like “it looks like glamour etc etc”.
the brand war is so intense that even 1 part design copied can drag companies to court…….. Aple Inc has sued many companies around the world due to having looks same as apple.

    • Amit

@Ayan….i said it looks like Glamour, i didnt say it is SAME as Glamour. No i ddnt see it physically but, as per the pics are concerned u never know what will it be when we ll see it practically…but, it resembles HH GLAMOUR from sideways

  • SM Rupok
