The 2016 Audi Q7 will hit the Indian showrooms in the last quarter of 2015

The second generation 2016 Audi Q7 is undergoing rigorous tests on Indian soil since December last year. Initially we caught the SUV wearing camouflage but this time we saw it undisguised revealing all the styling details including the badging. Based on the new MLB platform, the new generation Q7 is significantly lighter than its predecessor and is smaller in dimensions. The Q7 still has the big SUV presence but this time in a sophisticated manner unlike the outgoing model that had a raw and intimidating stance.

The clean lines and shiny chrome elements on the side profile of the new Audi Q7 looks smart. The chrome door molding gets Quattro inscribed on it. The chiseled tailgate looks sharp and sporty with full LED tail lights having arrow shaped detailing inside. There is a brushed silver finished skid plate on the rear bumper integrating twin exhausts. The interior of the new Q7 is a different world altogether compared to the outgoing model. The new cabin will feature hi-tech equipment and luxurious upholstery, which will remind you of the Audi A8.

Audi is testing the new Q7 with 3.0-litre diesel and petrol engine options and both of them will be offered in the Indian market. The 3.0 TDI churns out 272 PS of power and 600 Nm of torque while the 3.0 TFSI produces 333 PS of power and 440 Nm of torque. Both the engines will be mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission, powering all the four wheels. We can expect Audi to launch the new Q7 before the festive season, retailing at around Rs. 90 lakhs. The rivals are already updated to their latest generation and it will be interesting to see the Q7 fighting against the BMW X5, Mercedes GL-Class and the upcoming Volvo XC90.
