The full-faired version of the Suzuki Gixxer will be called Gixxer SF and the motorcycle will hit the markets by April 2015.

A lot of confusion seems to be prevailing around the name of the full-faired Suzuki Gixxer. From Gixxer SLK to Gixxer GSX150R, the final verdict is that the name of the bike is Gixxer SF. So coming back to the bike, the Gixxer SF is a great attempt by Suzuki to capture the top-end of the 150cc market in India because the regular Gixxer has brought in good volumes for the company. The Gixxer SF will be launched by April 2015 and it will be positioned as the company’s flagship offering (superbikes aside) in our market. While the full faired version of the bike shares its mechanicals with the regular model, the cosmetics have been highly tweaked and the Gixxer SF is quite a looker.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF gets a proper fairing at the front and the styling reminds us of big daddy Hayabusa from certain angles. Suzuki designers seem to have done a good job here. The fuel tank has also been redesigned on the fully-faired model. While the company was earlier working on a semi-faired version of the bike, we’re quite glad that they came up with a fully-faired model instead. The 150cc segment is mostly ruled by the Bajaj Pulsar and Yamaha FZ and Fazer models while Honda has a small share in the segment. Suzuki is betting big on acquiring a decent share of the pie here.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF is powered by a 154.9cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 2-valve engine that gives out 14.8 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 14 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. Matched to a 5-speed transmission, the Gixxer provides a fun riding experience and the Gixxer SF might just take it a step ahead. Suzuki currently sells the regular Gixxer priced at Rs. 72,199/- (ex-showroom, Delhi) so we are expecting the Gixxer SF to carry a marginal premium and might be launched at a starting price of Rs. 85,000/- (ex-showroom) and the bike is going to be available in two variants.
