The dual channel ABS unit is apparently sourced from Continental and will hike the Mahindra Mojo’s price by a marginal premium.

Mahindra Mojo ABS Testing
The bike will get no mechanical changes apart from ABS

After 5 long years, the Mahindra Mojo finally went on sale in October this year much to the excitement of enthusiasts or otherwise. Having impressed with its touring capabilities, the Indian auto giant promised us that an ABS unit was also in the making and will hit the market in the following months. Keeping up with the same, the Mojo has been snapped once again doing testing, but this time with the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and testing equipment, hinting that development is right on track.

Our eagle-eyed reader that goes by the name of Maddy snapped the Mahindra Mojo with all the test equipment fitted in a parking lot. The automaker had stated that it will be opting for a dual channel ABS unit and the images confirm that same. Furthermore, our reader states that the ABS unit is sourced from Continental while the brakes continue to come from Spanish component maker J.Juan, part of Mahindra’s Moto 3 racing team.

In addition, the 2016 Mahindra Mojo will get switchable ABS with a toggle button to turn it on or off while a new symbol will be added on the instrument cluster. Other mechanical bits will remain the same on the updated Mojo with power coming from a 295cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine tuned to produce 28 PS and 30 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike gets USD front forks and a monoshock setup at the rear while a 21-litre fuel tank ensures a total range of 600 kms.

With the addition of ABS, the Mahindra Mojo will be one of the few models in the quarter-litre space to provide the safety feature as an option. Moreover, the addition of ABS also makes the Mojo ready for the proposed safety norms to be levied in 2017. Expect a marginal price hike on the offering for the ABS version which is likely to touch the Rs. 2+ lakh (on-road, Mumbai) mark. The Mojo ABS is expected to go on sale by mid-2016.
