October is generally considered a dry month for the automobile industry and the top 10 selling bikes list shows. It isn’t only the two-wheelers that have reported negative growth in sales, even four-wheelers had the same story to tell.

Honda Activa continues to rule the roost by selling 2,59,071 units and the Activa’s geared rival, the Splendor stands at the second spot selling 2,15,631 units followed by Hero HF Deluxe which sold 1,51,656 units in October 2017. The Hero Passion and TVS Jupiter retain their fourth and fifth position by selling 88,997 and 81,326 units respectively.

TVS Jupiter is the only scooter on the list after Honda Activa. TVS is also working on an electric version of the Jupiter which is set to be launched in India by June 2018. The electric scooter is likely to be powered by a lithium-ion battery and will have a range of up to 50 kms. The Hero Glamour moves two spots up and currently sits in the sixth position selling 76,830 units.

Retaining its seventh spot, the TVS XL Super sold 75,037 units in October as opposed to 84,934 units in September 2017. The Honda CB Shine slips two positions selling 71,133 units while the Bajaj Pulsar and CT 100 retain their ninth and tenth spots selling 64,233 and 59,827 units respectively in October 2017. Scooter and premium bikes segments are the fastest growing segments in India. Scooters currently contribute to over 30 percent of the total two-wheeler industry.
