Kawasaki has unveiled the 2013 Ninja 300R, which is nothing but a more powerful Ninja 250R. The Ninja 300R gets a host of mechanical changes to ensure it is a more fun to ride motorcycle than the Ninja 250R. However with both bikes having identical appearance, the buyer is left in a cloud of confusion. That is the reason why our current poll (which bike should Kawasaki get first to India) has the least votes for the Ninja 300R and the most (more than half the votes) for the Ninja 250R.
The Kawasaki Ninja 300R is powered by a 296cc, parallel twin, fuel injected engine with dual throttle valves. This 300cc motor produces 39 PS of peak power at 11,000 RPM and 27 Nm of peak torque at a rather high 10,000 RPM. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, which has a slipper clutch. The Ninja 300R has 110 section tyres at the front and 140 section tyres at the rear. The bike weighs 172 kgs (174 kgs with ABS) and has a fuel tank capacity of 17-litres.
The Ninja 300R gets all the good bits including a digital console, petal disc brakes. aluminum footpegs and a rigid diamond frame. Kawasaki will continue to sell the Ninja 250R along with the new Ninja 300R. The 300R is positioned towards performance seeking bikers, who are not satisfied with the performance of the 250R. The higher capacity Ninja is priced at a $1000 premium. The Ninja 300R is meant for the race track and is expected to be sharper than the Ninja 250R.
