2014-Yamaha-FZ6R

Yamaha has been known for developing rider friendly sports bikes and a rider who is looking for a 600cc sports bike will not compromise on performance and styling to get value for the money. Yamaha has updated the FZ6R sports bike recently and the 2014 model is a great combination of performance and handling which are the major USP’s of Yamaha. The updated Yamaha FZ6R has a low seat height which can be adjustable based on the requirements of the commuter and it also makes it easier to put both the feet on the ground.

The 2014 Yamaha FZ6R comes equipped with a 600cc liquid-cooled four-stroke engine which has a double overhead cam shaft and is mated to a 6-speed multi-plate wet clutch transmission system. This engine is the same as the R6 but has been re-tuned and produces 76 HP and 52 Nm, delivering a smooth linear power to the driving axle just the way the enthusiasts need it and offers brisk acceleration with plenty of torque available up to the red line. This engine is derived from the popular FZ6 motor which uses a new fuel injection technology and is tuned to deliver outstanding low to mid engine performance. This motor reduces the vibrations to a large extent by using a forged piston made of aluminum.

The Yamaha FZ6R has a diamond shaped frame like body structure which is made up of high tensile steel pipes using the large engine bay as a structural member of the chassis. This becomes the foundation for the apt handling performance and is designed to provide the perfect rigidity balance which contributes to smooth cornering performance. The 2014 FZ6R is equipped with 120/70R 17-inch front and 160/60R 17-inch rear radial tyres mounted on cast aluminum wheels.

The Yamaha FZ6R is offered with a dual 298 mm front and a 245 mm rear hydraulic disc brakes. The 32-bit ECU controls the four hole, twin direction, high dynamic range type fuel injectors for superior injection control and by delivering precise fuel air mixture needed, the engine can deliver great power and fuel economy. This bike also comes equipped with a system which includes the three way catalytic converter technology to reduce the exhaust emissions. The seat has separate front and rear sections. The rider’s seat features an innovative height adjustment mechanism which can make a big difference on an all day ride.

The handlebar position can be adjusted 20 mm forward by rotating the handlebar clamps to fine tune rider comfort. The overall chassis rigidity has been designed to provide both excellent handling and all day comfort. Superior road hugging performance has been achieved with optimally designed damping force valves and oil channels. While their lightweight construction helps centralize mass, they also help contribute to agile handling. The meter panel consists of a digital display speedometer, analog tachometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel gauge and a water coolant gauge.

Yamaha should bring the FZ6R to India via the CBU route as its an apt rival to the Kawasaki Ninja 650. If launched in India, the Yamaha FZ6R should be priced around Rs. 5 lakhs (ex-showroom).
