2016 Maruti Ignis Showcased At Auto Expo [Live]

The Maruti Ignis is going to be launched later this year and it will be sold through the company’s NEXA dealership network, which also retails the Baleno and S-Cross.

After unveiling the Vitara Brezza compact SUV yesterday, Maruti has now showcased the Ignis here at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Ignis features youthful styling and it incorporates a lot of smart elements like LED DRLs too. The front fascia looks very funky and the same theme is carried over to the side profile also which features a distinct design on the C-pillar. The rear of the Ignis doesn’t look boring but it is a bit quirky.

The dashboard carries a nice design and there is a pop-up screen on the centre console. The design of the steering wheel looks new too. Talking about features, the Maruti Ignis comes loaded with front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, lane departure warning, ESP, Hill Hold, Hill Descent Control, automatic headlights and LED fog lamps. Other features like automatic climate control, cruise control, keyless entry, start-stop button, audio system with Bluetooth, heated front seats and regenerative braking are also present.

The 2016 Maruti Ignis is powered by a 1242cc, 4-cylinder K12C DualJet petrol engine producing 91 PS of power and 118 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a CVT gearbox and a DC synchronous motor is also matched to the engine. In global markets, the Ignis is offered in 2WD and AWD trims. It will be launched in India during the festive season of 2016 and it will be priced between Rs. 6-9 lakhs, thus competing with the Toyota Etios Cross, Hyundai i20 Active and Fiat Avventura.
