Chevrolet India will be launching the Beat facelift and Beat Essentia in the coming months in India. We recently caught the cars undergoing testing rounds on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. Along with that, MotorBeam reader Sandy Yeluru spotted the Essentia in Bangalore too.

The Beat test mule spotted was a top variant sporting new alloy wheels. The facelift sports a new grille, new headlamps, new designed bumpers, new fog lamps and some revised detailing on the tail lamps. Unlike the global new generation model, the India spec model will retain the existing platform.

The interiors of the Beat are expected to get more features and some tweaks to the centre console with the overall layout being the same. The Beat shall be offered with the same engine options which is the 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.0-litre diesel engine. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and no automatic transmission is offered.

The Beat Essentia was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The car is just a sedan version of the Beat, as the interiors, engines on offer and equipment list remains the same. The spotted test car was camouflaged. The Beat Essentia will compete against the Volkwagen Ameo, Maruti Swift DZire, Tata Tigor, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Ford Figo Aspire.
