Mahindra Scorpio automatic has been silently discontinued in India, for no apparent reasons.

2015 Mahindra Scorpio Review
The Scorpio Automatic was launched in July 2015

The Mahindra Scorpio Automatic has been silently discontinued in India, the Twitter account of the Mahindra Scorpio confirms this and the official website too has been updated now to include only the prices of the manual variants.

While there has been no specific reason revealed by Mahindra behind the discontinuation, there are speculations that Mahindra could equip the Scorpio with a new automatic gearbox. There were reports earlier that the Scorpio would be getting the same automatic gearbox as in the XUV500, but we still have no clarity from Mahindra on that. Meanwhile, Mahindra is testing the new facelifted Scorpio that is due for a launch very soon and we expect Mahindra to give the facelifted Scorpio a new automatic gearbox.

Mahindra introduced the Scorpio with an automatic gearbox in July 2015. That Scorpio was powered by a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine that churned out 118 HP and 280 Nm of torque. It came paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox and now the SUV is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission. Mahindra will, however, relaunch the Scorpio with the XUV500’s automatic gearbox later this year.
