Honda has revealed the final specifications of the 2018 Civic diesel for Europe. The India-spec Civic diesel is also likely to have similar specifications if not exactly the same as the Europe-spec model.

The 2018 Civic diesel comes powered by a comprehensively revised 1.6-litre i-DTEC turbocharged 4-cylinder motor that produces 120 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 300 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM. The powertrain comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. 0-100 km/hr comes in 10.5 seconds while the fuel-efficiency is rated at 29.41 km/l (3.4-litres/100 kms under NEDC test conditions).

A 9-speed automatic transmission (a first for a 2WD Honda car) will be offered as optional from mid-2018 for European markets. The automaker already makes the 1.6-litre oil-burner at its Tapukara facility, so expect prices of the India-spec Civic diesel to be aggressive. Along with the 1.6-litre diesel, the Japanese carmaker will also offer a 1.8-litre petrol motor under the hood of the Civic. The naturally aspirated engine produces 143 PS of power and 174 Nm of torque in the Thai-spec version. The sedan is slated for an India launch in early 2019.
