A new spy video on the facelifted Hyundai Elite i20 has been doing rounds on the internet. The video shows the premium hatchback’s exterior as well as the interior. While the exteriors (front and rear) were camouflaged, the interiors weren’t. Expected to debut at the 2018 Auto Expo, the Elite i20 facelift rivals the Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.

The spotted car seems to be a mid-level automatic variant as it doesn’t feature projector headlights and alloy wheels (as seen in the earlier spy shots). Changes to the front come in the form of a new cascading grille, revised bumper and revised fog lamps housing with LED DRLs placed below them. The rear gets new detailing for the tail-lights and the positioning of the number plate holder has been moved from the bumper to the boot lid. The black rims seen here are probably the test wheels. The carmaker currently offers the automatic gearbox only in the Magna trim.

The interior pretty much reveals everything but again changes are minimal. You do get a similar looking dual-tone dashboard as on the current model, a touchscreen infotainment system which is missed on the current model’s automatic trim and an automatic climate control as well. The 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel looks similar to the one in the Verna. The buttons on either side of the infotainment system are tweaked slightly and the AC vents get silver surrounds. The power window switches and the control for the ORVMs are placed as in the current model.

The 2018 Hyundai i20 will come powered by the same 1.2 and 1.4-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines. The 1.2-litre petrol produces 83 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox while the 1.4-litre petrol belts out 100 PS of power and 132 Nm of torque and comes paired with a 4-speed automatic gearbox. Mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the 1.4-litre diesel makes 90 PS of power and 220 Nm of twist.
