The maxi-scooter’s engine has received plenty of changes

Suzuki Motorcycle have introduced the updated for 2021 Burgman 400 overseas. The maxi-scooter is now Euro 5-compliant and has received comprehensive upgrades in addition.

Engine-wise, the scooter’s 400cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled unit puts out 29 PS of max power and 35.2 Nm of peak torque now. Both power and torque numbers are down (by 2 PS and 0.8 Nm) in comparison with the 2020 model.

Suzuki says the motor has a new twin-plug cylinder head, revised cam profiles. a different injector, leading to increased combustion efficiency.

Despite the slight drop in power, the 2021 Suzuki Burgman 400 is claimed to have an increased top speed. To make it Euro 5-compliant, the scooter has a new catalytic converter too.

Another big change for 2021 is the traction control system which should keep the rider and pillion safe even when the conditions are treacherous and the ABS unit is lighter now.

The scooter does not look dissimilar to the 2020 model. It has LED lighting units all around, semi-digital instrument cluster, 42-litre underseat storage, 6.3-litre front compartment storage, 12 V power socket, stepped dual seat sporting double stitching and adjustable rider backrest, cutaway footboards and a large flyscreen.

It weighs 218 kg, has a 13.5-litre fuel tank and rides on 120-section front and 150-section rear rubber. Colours that the maxi-scooter will be offered with are Metallic Matt Black No.2, Metallic Matt Sword Silver and Solid Iron Grey.

To be available in the UK from September this year, the 2021 Suzuki Burgman 400 will likely cost more than the 2020 model which is priced at £6599 (Rs. 6.6 lakhs).
