2022 Jeep Wagoneer
These are proper 3-row SUVs

Jeep has unveiled the 2022 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer full-size SUVs with modern design, technology and safety features.

In September last year, Jeep revealed the Grand Wagoneer Concept which looked futuristic from the outset. Mercifully, the production-spec Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are almost identical to the concept vehicle.

Available in 3 trim levels (Series I, Series II, and Series III), the SUVs share the same styling. Both feature Jeep’s trademark front grille, deep bumper, near-vertical rear section and large glasshouse.

Both also get LED lighting, but the Grand Wagoneer features more chrome garnish and specific badging to set it apart.

Inside, the SUVs get a 2-spoke steering wheel that seems to be making a comeback, horizontal air-con vents, digital instrument cluster (10.3 inches on the Wagoneer and 12.3 inches on the Grand) and large Uconnect 5 infotainment touchscreens (10.1 inches on Wagoneer and 12-inches on the Grand).

The seats are upholstered in Nappa leather as standard, while the Grand Wagoneer can also be had with Palermo leather on higher variants and a 10.3-inch productivity screen for the front passenger along with a pair of 10.1-inch screens for the second row passengers seated in captain’s chairs.

There will also be a screen for last row occupants on the second row centre console in the Grand Wagoneer that has a more luxurious cabin with wood and aluminium trim inserts and ambient lighting.

What’s more, even when the cars are fully occupied (up to 8 seats offered), there is still a large boot to put things.

Moreover, customers who want even more luxury can pick the Grand Wagoneer Obsidian (that will come later) with “Dark Onyx” metallic exterior accents, more kit and black 22-inch wheels.

Power for the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer comes from a 5.7-litre V8 that is paired with mild-hybrid tech. It makes 392 HP and 548 Nm, while the transmission is an 8-speed unit.

On the other hand, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer gets a 6.4-litre V8 that is good for 471 HP and 617 Nm that is also mated to an 8-speed auto.

Rear-wheel-drive is standard on the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer, but there are 3 different optional 4-wheel-drive systems – Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac and Quadra-Drive II – that can be had with the car. The Grand Wagoneer comes with 4-wheel-drive as standard.

The Wagoneer rides on coil springs, while air suspension is optional, which increases the ground clearance from 210 mm to 256 mm. The Grand comes with air suspension as standard.

Selecting the Advanced All-Terrain Package will add underbody protection to the SUVs that have up to 4500 kg of towing capability.

The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer family will come with hands-free Active Driving Assist with lane-centering tech, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision warning, among other safety features.

Price-wise, the Wagoneer starts at $57,995 (Rs. 42.16 lakhs), the Grand Wagoneer from $86,995 (Rs. 63.24 lakhs), while the Obsidian costs $98,995 (Rs. 72 lakhs). First customer deliveries in the USA will begin close to summer.
