These are exclusive testing images of the 2022 Maruti Baleno that was spotted out on public roads. The development mule was completely camouflaged so as to not reveal any details whatsoever.

Maruti Suzuki has been continuously road-testing its premium hatchback for a while now. In October, a pre-facelift mule was seen, while in December a model, speculated to be a hybrid, was spotted too.

Unlike them, this particular test mule is hiding something, since there is no other reason for Maruti to cover every bit of it with its signature black wrap.

Upfront, the spied 2022 Maruti Baleno comes with a larger radiator grille having a new mesh pattern. The new headlights with DRLs are positioned lower and as a result, the car’s bonnet has been restyled. The new front bumper houses a narrower air dam and circular fog lamps, while the lip looks less aggressive.

At the back, the refreshed premium hatchback will come with restyled tail lamps and a redesigned bumper. What’s more, the rear spoiler looks mildly different, and the development mule is riding on new wheels as well.

However, the side profile of the hatchback remains untouched and the boot lid also comes with a rear wiper and chrome bar like the current model.

The Baleno remains the best-selling premium hatchback in the country

There should be some changes made to the insides of the 2022 Baleno, be it the upholstery or the features, but its powertrain options might remain the same.

That said, with Tata having the Altroz iTurbo and Hyundai poised to introduce the i20 N Line, Maruti could bring back the RS variant to spice things up.

Currently, Maruti is gearing up to launch the new generation Celerio. Thus, the revised Baleno’s introduction could be a few months away.
