There are some chopped carbon fibre-esque detailing on the motorcycle

Suzuki has unveiled the 2022 model year GSX-S1000 with bold and aggressive styling along with upgrades to every aspect of the litre-class naked motorcycle.

What the eyes see first is the headlight cluster that has staked hexagonal LED units which gives the bike a new face. From there, the bodywork around the large fuel tank and even the tail section are all sharp and angular.

To our eyes, the design upgrade that the Japanese firm has given the bike, which is available in Glass Mat Mechanical Gray, Glass Sparkle Black and Metallic Triton Blue colours, does make it resemble another fast naked from Mattighofen.

The lighting units are all LEDs, while the instrument cluster is an LCD. To make it more easier to ride, the handlebar of the 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 has been widened by 23 mm and brought 20 mm closer to the rider. Also, there is a new seat for the rider along with slim bodywork around the knee-grip area.

Built on a twin-spar aluminium frame, the 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 has an aluminium-alloy swingarm and an entirely new exhaust system to make the bike Euro 5 compliant.

Power comes from a 999cc, 4-cylinder motor that is good for 152 PS at 11,000 RPM and 106 Nm at 9250 RPM. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) and a bi-directional quick shifter.

Weighing in at 214 kg, the litre-class naked can hold 19 litres of fuel and comes with adjustable KYB inverted front forks and an adjustable link type coil spring at the back. With twin disc brakes upfront and a single rotor at the rear, it rides on wide 120-section front and 190-section rear tyres.

Of course, there are plentiful electronics to keep the rider safe including Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS), ride-by-wire electronic throttle system, Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) with 3 modes (Active, Basic and Comfort) and 5-mode traction control.

In addition, accessories such as pillion seat cover, frame sliders, billet aluminium brake and clutch levers, carbon front and rear fenders, among others, are available for the 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 that costs £10,999 (Rs. 11.39 lakhs) in the UK where it will be available from late June 2021.
