Honda City Elegant Edition
New gen Amaze to be based on City and Elevate platform

2024 Honda Amaze to get fresh looks with new design, based on a new platform

2024 Honda Amaze new generation compact sedan is set to debut later this year. The forthcoming third generation model is poised to replace the current version on sale, which has been on the market since 2018. The launch is expected around Diwali 2024.

One notable aspect of the new gen Amaze is its platform, which will be shared with the Honda City and Elevate. However, modifications will be made to ensure a shorter wheelbase, allowing the Amaze to maintain its compact dimensions and remain under the four-meter mark. This strategic decision by Honda aims to streamline its India lineup onto a single platform, potentially enhancing economies of scale.

While specific details about the exterior design remain scarce, it is expected that the new Amaze will continue Honda’s tradition of incorporating stylish cues akin to its larger sedan counterparts. Drawing inspiration from models like the Accord, the third-gen Amaze is expected to sport a contemporary and appealing appearance.

Inside the cabin, the third-gen Honda Amaze is anticipated to feature a refreshed layout, possibly incorporating a larger touchscreen interface similar to that found in the Elevate. To optimise costs, it’s likely that the new model will share interior components with other Honda vehicles available in the Indian market.

In terms of powertrain options, the next-gen Amaze will be offered exclusively with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, a carryover from the current model. This engine delivers 90 HP and 110 Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. With Honda’s decision to discontinue diesel engines in India, the new Amaze will continue the trend of offering petrol-only variants.

Honda’s timeline for launching the third-gen Amaze aligns with expectations for a release in the latter half of the year, likely coinciding with the festive season around Diwali 2024. Upon its debut, the updated Amaze will compete against rivals such as the upcoming Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and the Tata Tigor in the highly competitive subcompact sedan segment.
